The group Holme Valley Vision launched their “River2015” campaign with an exhibition in Holmfirth Market Hall on Thursday October 30th 2014. The exhibition told the history of the river and its ecology, and asked the public what improvements they want to see.
The aim of River2015 is to make improvements along its route, which takes in Honley, Holme and Holmfirth, starting by recruiting 2,015 people to donate £20.15, £201.50 or £2,015.
Trout in the Town is contributing ongoing planning and advice as well as technical habitat guidance to this extremely dedicated group. The wild trout and grayling populations are an important component of the overall river-corridor wildlife that the group aims to protect and promote. Riverside businesses and community members are being encouraged to engage with their river and many community events are run throughout the year.
